1. What QuizMaxx is
A study tool for pub-quiz general knowledge: spaced-repetition flashcards, map quizzes, music and picture rounds, and a mock quiz. Most of it runs entirely in your browser.
2. Free and Plus
Free covers the whole collection — every question, picture, map and round — and the full scheduler. It works without an account and without payment, and we intend to keep it that way. Cross-device sync of your study progress is also free: create an account and your progress is stored and synced at no charge.
Plus is the paid tier (section 3) — covering the metered services:
- Weekly current-affairs issues published while your Plus is active.
- AI round drafts — name a topic, get a fact-checked round to edit and keep, within a monthly allowance.
- Automatic answer marking — a model gives typed answers a second opinion when exact matching cannot, within a fair-use rate limit.
Plus does not unlock existing questions. Content that is free today will not be moved behind the subscription later.
3. Price and billing
Prices include UK VAT and are charged by our payment provider Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record:
- Yearly — £12 a year. Renews automatically each year until cancelled.
- Lifetime — £35, once (no longer sold). Offered until August 2026, and honoured in full for everyone who bought it: it never renews, there is nothing to cancel, and it covers Plus for as long as we offer the service — if we ever discontinue it, section 9 says what happens. We stopped selling it because a one-off payment does not cover the running costs of an account that lasts decades, and we would rather withdraw it than quietly devalue it.
The price you subscribe at is the price you keep for as long as the subscription stays active: a change normally applies to new subscriptions only, and a lifetime purchase is never charged again at all. If we ever had to change the price of a running subscription, we would give at least 30 days' notice in the app, it could only take effect at your next renewal, and you could cancel before then.
4. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel at any time from Settings → QuizMaxx Plus → Cancel subscription, or from the link in your receipt email. You keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for; we do not pro-rate part-months.
Deleting your account cancels your subscription as part of the same step, so you cannot be left paying for an account that no longer exists.
The lifetime purchase. There is no subscription to cancel, so nothing will be charged again. If you change your mind within 14 days, email [email protected] and we will refund it.
Your statutory right to cancel. As a consumer you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance contract for a refund. By subscribing and using Plus immediately you ask us to begin the service within that period, and you acknowledge you lose the right to cancel once it is fully performed — but for a subscription you may still cancel within 14 days and receive a refund reduced in proportion to what you have used. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

5. Your account
Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.
6. Your data and your progress
Your study progress is yours. You can export it at any time from Settings, free or paid, and you can keep using the free app forever with the export you took. See the Privacy Policy.
If your subscription lapses, your progress keeps syncing and exporting as before — sync is free. What stops is the paid services in section 2: new current-affairs issues, AI round drafts and automatic marking.
7. What we don't promise
QuizMaxx is provided "as is". We aim to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change or discontinue features.
The questions may be wrong. Much of the content was imported or drafted at speed and is not exhaustively fact-checked; the app says so where the risk is highest. It is a study aid, not a reference work. Do not rely on it for anything that matters, and please report errors.
The music previews are streamed from third-party services and may stop working if those services change. That is outside our control and is not on its own grounds for a refund, though we will always talk to you about it.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service, resell access, or share an account with the world. The content is not yours to redistribute — see LICENCE.md.
Automated collection. The question sets, the daily briefs, the news issues and the media indexes took years to assemble and are the substance of what this site is. You may not use crawlers, scrapers, headless browsers, downloaders or any other automated means to copy them in bulk, and you may not use them to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model — whether or not the files happen to be reachable without an account. This does not restrict search engines indexing the public pages in the ordinary way, nor anything the LICENCE permits, nor of course reading the site yourself with a normal browser.
We may suspend an account that does these things, and will normally warn you first. We may also rate-limit or block traffic that looks automated, with no warning at all, because by then there is usually nobody to warn.
9. Ending it
You may stop at any time. We may end or suspend an account for a serious or repeated breach of section 8, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we will refund the unused part of any subscription, and for a lifetime purchase a fair proportion of what you paid, judged against how long you had it.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of your local mandatory consumer law.
